Boston

This project began as a portrait of a city through detail shots and evolved into an exploration of context – how much of it we need or don’t need to identify a place. Here, the “place” is Boston and all the photos in this series were taken in iconic parts of the city. However, the significant majority of the photos are of unidentifiable subjects, depending on the viewer’s familiarity with Boston. Some are so nonspecific that they become site-less. Each image was taken in a different neighborhood, and in each image most of the city lies outside of the frame.
