Boston

This project began as a portrait of a city through details and evolved into an exploration of context – how much of it we need or don’t need in order to identify a place. Here, that “place” is Boston. All the photos in this series were taken in well-known parts of the city, though their identification depends on the viewer’s familiarity with the city. Some are so nonspecific that they become site-less. Each image was taken in a different neighborhood, and in each image most of the city lies outside of the frame.
